Despite facing tough competition from “When Evil Lurks,” named by the users of Letterboxd as the best horror movie of 2023, it didn’t pale in comparison. On the contrary, it left every spectator paralyzed.

The plot revolves around Jesus and Maria, an adult couple dealing with relationship issues while trying to enjoy their newborn. Their attempt to celebrate by furnishing their apartment leads Jesus to purchase an odd coffee table, unaware of the future horrors it will bring.

Rafael Motamayor, a respected critic on /Film, rated the movie 10 out of 10, describing it as “one of the bleakest, meanest, most unbearably cruel movies you could ever see.” He added that such extremely stressful films were rare nowadays, in the best sense of the word.
