Just a few hours ago, he spoke about a movie that apparently letf him dizzy, and he said that “My guess is you have never, not once in your whole life, seen a movie as black as this one”. Check all the details of his recommendation here.

Stephen King says he loved the Spanish horror film “The Coffee Table”

The horror movie recommended by Stephen King was “The Coffee Table,” directed by Caye Casas. It represented Spain in 2023 at major genre events such as Sitges and the San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, generating astonishing buzz.

Despite facing tough competition from “When Evil Lurks,” named by the users of Letterboxd as the best horror movie of 2023, it didn’t pale in comparison. On the contrary, it left every spectator paralyzed.

The plot revolves around Jesus and Maria, an adult couple dealing with relationship issues while trying to enjoy their newborn. Their attempt to celebrate by furnishing their apartment leads Jesus to purchase an odd coffee table, unaware of the future horrors it will bring.

Rafael Motamayor, a respected critic on /Film, rated the movie 10 out of 10, describing it as “one of the bleakest, meanest, most unbearably cruel movies you could ever see.” He added that such extremely stressful films were rare nowadays, in the best sense of the word.

According to JustWatch, “The Coffee Table” is available for rent on Prime Video for $3.99. However, the movie premiered in the US on April 19 and can still be seen in theaters.
