While 2024 is seeing numerous successful horror releases, few have generated as much excitement as “Nosferatu”. This remake of the 1922 German classic has a lot at stake, facing the potential for heavy criticism if it fails to honor the original. However, with Robert Eggers at the helm, fans of the genre have infinite faith in his vision.
As is well known, the film adapts Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula”. It follows Thomas Hutter, a real estate agent who travels to Transylvania to meet Count Orlok, a mysterious vampire. Upon uncovering Orlok’s true nature, Hutter attempts to escape, but the vampire pursues him back to Wisborg. As Orlok unleashes chaos on the town, spreading a plague, Hutter’s wife, Ellen, becomes his next target.
The picture’s A-list cast adds to the anticipation, featuring Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, and, of course, Bill Skarsgård, who fans are eager to see as the eerie Count Orlok. And we’ve just received the first look!
Bill Skarsgård’s face as Count Orlok revealed in the latest ‘Nosferatu’ trailer
Since it was announced that Skarsgård would portray the malevolent vampire in “Nosferatu,” excitement has been building to see his interpretation, especially after his astonishing performance as Pennywise in Andy Muschietti’s “It” and “It 2”. While it seemed that Eggers wanted to keep his appearance under wraps, he has gradually revealed more details.
So far, three trailers for the film have been released, with the first two offering only dark glimpses of the sinister creature. However, the third trailer, released on September 30, features a chilling close-up of Orlok’s face!

The cast has long discussed the impact of Skarsgård’s transformation into the monster. Nicholas Hoult remarked to IndieWire, “He’s terrifying, it’s not Bill. That’s what’s so worrying about it. He gives a truly transformative performance where there is not anything of Bill left and it’s scary and intimidating. His voice, his physicality, I mean the makeup he has, it’s really a wonderful character, and he did beautiful character work with it.”
This role further cements Skarsgård’s status as a contemporary horror icon, demonstrating once again that he is the perfect choice for remarkable transformations into obscure creatures. Combined with Eggers’ talent as a filmmaker—who has expressed his obsession with remaking “Nosferatu” since 2015—we are poised to witness one of the most significant cinematic events of 2024. Celebrate with screams on December 25!
