Jeremy Allen White is set to play Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic, “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” according to reports. Variety states that the Emmy-winning actor is in talks to star in the movie, which will join the trend of upcoming musical biopics such as Timothée Chalamet’s A Complete Unknown.

Allen White is mostly known for his portrayal of Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in “The Bear,” which is currently filming its third and fourth season back to back. Thanks to the role, Allen White has not only won an Emmy, but also the Critics Choice and the Golden Globe.

According to Deadline, the movie was first set to be distributed by A24, but 20th Century Studios (owned by Disney) will now be backing the project. Here’s everything we know about this upcoming movie, in which Springsteen himself will be.

Bruce Springsteen’s biopic: What do we know about the plot?

According to Variety, the movie is set to the music of Springsteen’s album “Nebraska,” which was released in 1982 and it’s considered one of his most iconic bodies of work. The album explores the singer’s personal demons.

Who is in the cast?

Apart from Jeremy Allen White, Variety reported that Jeremy Strong is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen’s Manager Jon Landau. Strong recently became a first-time Tony nominee for his work in “An Enemy of the People.” He was nominated for three Emmys — he won in 2020 — for his role as Kendall Roy in “Succession.”

Who will be behind the ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’?

Scott Cooper is writing and directing the feature film. Cooper’s most recent films include Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye (2022), starring Christian Bale, Antlers (2021), Hostiles (2017) and Crazy Heart (2009). Meanwhile, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (“The Maze Runner” trilogy) and Eric Robinson, Cooper, Zanes and Scott Stuber are producing.

As we said, Springsteen and his longtime manager Jon Landau will also be involved in the film, confirmed by Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios president David Greenbaum, stating that it is “once-in-a-lifetime honor to be collaborating” with the star.

When will filming begin?

Per reports, production on the film is expected to begin this fall. According to Deadline, White completes shooting Season 4 of The Bear in June. This will be his biggest role in a film to date, after his supporting role in “The Iron Claw,” released in 2023.
