Without a doubt, “Downton Abbey” stands as the best historical drama series of the past two decades. Spanning six seasons with fifty-two episodes and five Christmas specials, it garnered 27 Primetime Emmy Award nominations after its first two parts, the most for any international television series in the awards’ history.
Naturally, its creators weren’t going to confine the success of the production to the small screen. In September 2019, they released the first film to the world, followed by the second installment, “Downton Abbey: A New Era,” which premiered in April 2022.
Just minutes ago, Focus Features announced that they are officially in production for the third installment, and even better, unveiled which iconic members of the cast would return for the production, along with the new additions.
Who are the cast of Downton Abbey 3?
First and foremost, the news everyone has been eagerly awaiting: according to Focus, the returning stars for “Downton Abbey 3” are Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, and Phyllis Logan. And this is just the beginning. There’s more of the main cast returning!
On the other hand, new additions to the cast include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan. You may recognize the latter two from their roles in “House of the Dragon” as Ser Simon Strong and Ser Qarl Correy, respectively.
