Almost 20 years ago, Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) surprised film critics with an incredible performance as the demonologist John Constantine in a supernatural fantasy adaptation directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games).
Now that the long-awaited sequel has been confirmed, it’s time to catch up on the project and find out what will happen with the story, as it will be set several years after the end of the first installment in 2005.
“Constantine” has become a cult classic, which is why DC Entertainment has invested more in the production of the upcoming movie and the protagonist himself has confessed that it is a fact, as it is already in the works.
Who are the cast of Constantine 2?
Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as the supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine. He won’t be the only one returning, as Peter Stormare (Prison Break and Armageddon) will also come back as Lucifer.
As of September 2024, they are the only ones confirmed for the sequel, as the project is still in development and all indications are that the casting process has not yet concluded, with new faces expected to join the cast as well.
Keanu Reeves as John Constantine was 10/10 casting.
What is Constantine 2 about?
In the first installment, Constantine is dying but stays to save his soul by preventing the demons from Hell from entering Earth. Therefore, it is likely that in the sequel we will see him wandering as an ordinary mortal.
Constantine 2 has a complete script
It has been two years since the announcement of the long-awaited “Constantine” sequel, and this week it has had a noteworthy resurrection, as producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed that the script is complete.
The project was delayed due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, but now that Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind and Batman & Robin) has finished developing the script, the next step is to begin production.
Collider reported that Di Bonaventura (Four Brothers and Transformers) praised the screenwriter for his hard work, “hinting at an exciting development for fans of the original film.” So, something big is truly on the horizon.
