After an extensive wait, the trailer for Robert Eggers‘ remake of “Nosferatu” is finally here, promising to be the standout horror film of the year just in time for Christmas.

Fans eagerly anticipated this release not only because Eggers has proven himself with “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse,” but also due to its star-studded cast.

All the Easter Eggs in the ‘Nosferatu’ trailer

  • Ellen Hutter

In Robert Eggers’ remake, Lily-Rose Depp takes on her most significant role yet as Ellen Hutter, the wife of Thomas Hutter. While not the protagonist, her portrayal promises to deliver some of the most chilling scenes adapted directly from the 1922 original. In fact, the trailer’s beginning is the second most remebered moment from the first “Nosferatu” movie.

  • Thomas Hutter

Nicolas Hoult takes the lead as Thomas Hutter in the film, the central man to the plot. In the trailer, he is seen while he is sent to Transylvania by his employer, estate agent Herr Knock. His mission: to visit Count Orlok, a prospective buyer of a house near Hutter’s own home. As expected, the creature proves far from your ordinary client.

  • Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz

Willem Dafoe is renowned for his versatility—so much so that he can even embody Van Helsing! In Robert Eggers’ film, this iconic character takes on the name Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz. Throughout adaptations, Van Helsing’s expertise in vampires ranges from precise to ambiguous, but he consistently stands as the challenger to the monster alongside the movie’s central couple.

  • The coach and the coffin

Those familiar with the original production understand that these three elements appearing in the remake indicate that Robert Eggers will deliver his take on the most terrifying moments from the 1922 movie, all revolving around these key components.

  • Friedrich and Anna Harding

Although brief, the trailer showcases glimpses of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Emma Corrin as the Harding couple, responsible for caring for Ellen Hutter in her husband’s absence, and witnesses to the horrors inflicted by Count Orlok. While Johnson’s role was relatively minor in the original source material, Eggers previously indicated his intention to elevate it to a central character in his adaptation.

  • The Count Orlok

It’s no surprise that Eggers is keeping Bill Skarsgard’s complete look as Count Orlok under lock and key. The trailer doesn’t fully reveal him, offering only glimpses from the side and in shadows.

Yet, even these views are enough to keep us satisfied for now. Moreover, an interesting detail is Skarsgård’s chilling laugh heard at the trailer’s beggining—a radical departure from his usual voice, possibly hinting at an even deeper characterization than his portrayal of Pennywise in the “It” remakes.
