Directed by Conor Allyn, the story follows a New York doctor who travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to attend to a disturbed child who seems to have inexplicable abilities.

Brian Lowry of CNN described the drama as “a fairly terrible starring vehicle for the actor, which she also produced, a movie that probably won’t generate many sparks beyond those caused by morbid curiosity“.

It wasn’t the only movie Heard premiered during 2023, as she also released the sequel to Aquaman, titled The Lost Kingdom. There, she shared the screen with her former castmates, including Jason Momoa.
