The “Banshees of Inisherin” might have been the biggest Oscar snub of 2023, but that hasn’t stopped it from earning the love of streaming users. Its impressive viewership has propelled it to rank among the most-watched movies on Max worldwide, even though it was added in December.

Directed by Martin McDonagh, the film showcases his distinctive storytelling, much like his previous work, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” which caused quite a sensation at the 2018 Academy Awards. McDonagh’s direction in both titles has been widely praised, further solidifying his reputation in the industry.

Additionally, the picture was named one of the Top Ten Films of 2022 by the National Board of Review and is considered among the best films of the 2020s and the 21st century so far.

‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ is the No. 6 movie on Max worldwide

“The Banshees of Inisherin” was probably one of the most radical narratives of the decade. Thus, it’s not strange to see it being the sixth most-watched movie on Max worldwide.

Amazingly, it has left “Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part One” quite low in the chart, despite that being one of the hit offers in the catalog. At the moment, it’s in a neck-and-neck competition against “Five Nights at Freddy’s” to keep ascending.

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1923, it tells the story of two lifelong friends, Pádraic and Colm, who find themselves at an impasse when Colm abruptly ends their friendship. A stunned Pádraic struggles to rebuild the relationship, refusing to accept his longtime friend’s rejections.

The cast is absolutely star-studded, with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as the leads, accompanied by stunning performances from Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan, and more.

It was widely praised for the work of its stars, and also the screenplay, which, as one of the best examples of black tragicomedy, ensures the movie will be remembered for ages.
