The countdown to the second season of House of the Dragon is in its final stretch, and it’s time to find out whether the prequel is about to premiere its final episodes or if it has a bright future in the Max catalog.
It’s no surprise that the Game of Thrones spin-off series has been a massive success worldwide, breaking some records on HBO and establishing itself as one of the platform’s most iconic productions.
Starring great actors like Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy, the story continues to take fans through the streets of Westeros, where two of the most important families fight for power and revenge.
Will House of the Dragon have a Season 3 at Max?
Yes! HBO has renewed House of the Dragon for a third season, despite not yet knowing how many views the second installment will have. This is due to the high demand shown by fans for the prequel.
The television network has already begun active development of the new episodes and there are plans for production to begin as soon as possible, following all the premieres and press conferences of the second season.
It is also believed that the possibility of a fourth part has been put on the table, but it all depends on the commitment that viewers have with the Game of Thrones spin-off, which has been very good so far.
Ryan Condal, the showrunner of the series, spoke with Games Radar+ about how the new episodes could set up the third season, which is already being written. During the conversation, he confessed:
“Yes, there’s a rhythm to all this, these kinds of stories as you tell them. And we’re trying to find satisfying arcs within the season structure. So, hopefully you start with a bang, and then you build to another bang through the series, but you’re really trying to arc out the characters, so that each season is a different experience for all of them.
And then you leave them off all in a place where you can pick up with them next year, and then take them in a new direction, because you don’t want to end up in that place where you’re doing the same thing again and again“.
