Following the tremendous success of the new film adaptations of Stephen King‘s horror novel “It“, it was expected that the story of It would continue in some way, and this time, it will come as a series.

Welcome to Derry will bring Bill Skarsgård back as Pennywise in the prequel produced by HBO, which follows the events of the 1960s and how the curse that haunts the town originated.

The Nosferatu and The Crow actor, known for playing multiple villains on screen, will be accompanied by great talents, with Madeleine Stowe, Taylour Paige and Jovan Adepo among the most notable.

When will ‘Welcome to Derry’ be released?

The first season of Welcome to Derry, the prequel set in a time preceding the events of the first It movie and set once again in the spooky town, is scheduled to premiere in 2025 on Max‘s catalog.

The exact date is still unknown, but it will feature a total of eight episodes. Director Andy Muschietti (The Flash and Mama) and Bill Skarsgård himself will be executive producers of the horror TV show.

Initially, the star who portrays Pennywise had not been included in the project, so he was unaware of the series’ direction. However, this week his participation was confirmed, and this time, he will be in two roles.
