The thriller genre has always been a fertile ground for interesting voices in filmmaking, especially in recent years with titles that have been well received by critics and audiences. One of those movies is “The Passenger” (2023), which you can watch for free in the US on Fubo (which offers a seven-day free trial).

The movie is the final title in an eight-picture deal between Blumhouse and MGM+, formerly Epix. You can also watch it on Prime Video. Some other titles of the partnership include “A House on the Bayou,” “Unhuman” and “There’s Something Wrong with the Children.”

While ‘The Passenger’ didn’t have a theatrical release, it received positive reviews from critics. Directed by Carter Smith, known for films such as “The Ruins” (2008) and “Swallowed” (2022), this horror thriller is definitely worth a watch. Check out all you need to know.

What is ‘The Passenger’ about?

“The Passenger,” which was written by Jack Stanley (“Lou”), follows Randy, a fast food worker who must find a way to survive when his co-worker Benson snaps and goes on a violent killing spree. The ride-or-die situation will make Rany face his fears and confront his troubled past.

Who stars in ‘The Passenger’?

The movie stars Kyle Gallner as Benson, and Johnny Berchtold as Randy. Gallner is well-known for his roles in series such as “Veronica Mars” and “Smallville,” as well as other horror movies such as “The Haunting in Connecticut,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Scream” and “Smile.”

Writing for Variety, Michael Nordine said that “Gallner does exceptional work as the unstable force who sets these events in motion,” while “Berchtold complements Gallner’s vibe with a nervous energy that radiates through every mumbled sentence.”

They are also accompanied by Liza Weil, known for playing Paris in “Gilmore Girls,” and by Billy Slaughter (“Mindhunter”). The rest of the cast, in minor roles include: Matthew Laureano, Jordan Sherley, Kanesha Washington, Lupe Leon, and Merah Benoit.
