The Olympic Games have already started, but we can’t seem to forget the spectacular show at the Opening Ceremony. Lady Gaga set the tone of the celebration with her performance of “Mon Truc En Plumes,” and Celine Dion closed it with her emotional rendition of “Hymne à l’Amour.”

But that was not all. From the metal band Gojira portraying the French Revolution with “Ah! Ça Ira,” to DJ Barbara Butch and her musicalization of the applauded fashion runway, we have certainly experienced a bit of all that embodies the culture of Paris. And let’s not forget the masked man , who kept us on the edge of our seats!

Of course, with such an amazing display, we are all eagerly awaiting the Closing Ceremony, which producers promise will be just as astonishing as the opening, if not more. While they are keeping its performances an absolute secret, one name is starting to sound louder than the rest.

Will Beyoncé take the stage at the 2024 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony?

This year, celebrities were more present than ever at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games. On the red carpet, we saw A-list stars from Steven Spielberg to Rosalia, who showcased fashion from brands such as Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and Dior.

However, the absolute standout among non-performing celebrities was Beyoncé. She prepared a video supporting Team USA, featuring her song “YA YA” while introducing the athletes representing the United States. This clip, played during NBC’s coverage of the event, left everyone wanting more.

If this wasn’t enough to spark calls for her to perform at the Closing Ceremony, the end of the Opening celebration certainly did. The masked woman who crossed the Seine River on a motorized horse and delivered the official Olympics flag reminded many of Beyoncé’s iconic horse on the cover of her album “Renaissance.” Speculation grew: will we see her perform at the end of the games?

Truth be told, it’s quite unlikely. The team behind the Olympics has made a great effort to feature performers with solid French roots. While Celine Dion was included for being born in Quebec and speaking French as her mother tongue, Lady Gaga was invited only due to her special connection with French music, leaving many viewers upset that the Opening Ceremony was not entirely national.

Therefore, the likelihood of seeing an artist from another country, especially Beyoncé, is slim. Her latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” is focused entirely on United States culture. Additionally, having recently endorsed Kamala Harris by allowing her song “Freedom” to be used in Harris’s political campaign, it’s probable that the Olympic event organizers want to avoid any political associations.
