Sadie Sink’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has remained one of Marvel’s biggest mysteries, with the studio refusing to reveal which character the Stranger Things star is portraying. That secrecy has fueled countless theories, but a comment from musician Steve Lacy during the film’s premiere may have finally provided a major clue about her place in Peter Parker’s next chapter.

What did Steve Lacy reveal about Sadie Sink’s Spider-Man role?

Steve Lacy may have accidentally revealed that Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day after naming “Jean” as his favorite character from the film during a red carpet interview. Although Marvel has not officially confirmed Sink’s role, the comment immediately reignited speculation surrounding one of the MCU’s biggest casting mysteries.

During the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Lacy was asked which character he was most excited to see in the movie without spoiling anything. The musician, whose song “oh yeah?” is featured on the film’s soundtrack, responded by mentioning Jean and describing the character in a way that suggested she could have a significant role in the story.

The answer quickly spread online because Sadie Sink’s mysterious character has been one of Marvel’s most protected secrets throughout the promotional campaign. The possibility of Sink portraying Jean Grey has been one of the most persistent theories since her casting was announced.

Marvel has avoided revealing her identity in trailers and promotional material, with the actress even joking about the speculation by confirming only that she is not Spider-Man or Aunt May while refusing to disclose her actual character.

However, Lacy’s comment should not be considered an official confirmation. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have not announced Sadie Sink’s role, and director Destin Daniel Cretton has explained that keeping her character secret is intentional because the reveal is tied to the movie’s experience.

Tom Holland has also previously addressed the Jean Grey rumors by saying the character is not in the movie, though fans remain skeptical given Marvel’s history of protecting major twists.
