In the past week, rumors have started circulating suggesting that the relationship between Zendaya and Sam Levinson is not entirely smooth, as there have been discussions about the future of “Euphoria” and the reasons for its delay.

It is no surprise that the creator of HBO’s young adult drama has been focusing on other projects, such as “The Idol” with Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd, rather than working on the third season.

Several sources close to the production and the stars informed The Hollywood Reporter that not only did they distance themselves, but there were also multiple complaints and even involvement from top executives.

Have Zendaya and Sam Levinson argued over Euphoria?

After several speculations about the two-year delay of Euphoria’s third season, it seems we finally have an answer to all the questions. THR released a report stating that the two stars have grown apart.

A source involved in the production of the series, which is available on Max, confided to the media that the actress and the creator were very close during the first two seasons, but their relationship soured after The Idol.

It seems that Sam Levinson has shown more interest in creating the script for the musical drama rather than focusing on the new episodes of the popular TV show with Z, which led to the next season being on indefinite hold for a long time.

Perez Hilton’s official site and The Hollywood Reporter reported that the plan was initially to only write the script for the pilot episode, but the producer ended up enjoying the work so much that he devoted much of his time to it.

This did not sit well with the The Challengers actress, and the source stated that her frustration led her to speak with major executives, including HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi and CEO Casey Bloys.

During a meeting with both, Zendaya reportedly demanded “to know why the network allowed Levinson to focus his attention on another HBO program, with Euphoria at stake“.

On the other hand, a source close to Sam also spoke to the media and partly blamed the young actress for the production delays, saying she felt that she was “dragging her feet” on the show due to her schedule.

The same person noted, “Everything revolved around her. Everyone wanted it to revolve around Sam, but it was her“. She also allegedly rejected plot ideas, such as involving Rue as a private detective or a surrogate mother.

Neither of the parties involved has commented on these statements or mentioned the current status of their relationship. However, it has been confirmed that filming for the third season will begin in 2025.
