Tom Holland‘s future as Spider-Man is no longer tied to a number—it is tied to the story. After once suggesting he wouldn’t want to wear the suit past 30, the actor has softened that stance while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying his goal now is to stay with the franchise long enough to help usher in the next generation of web-slingers.

What did Tom Holland say about his future as Spider-Man?

Tom Holland says he is willing to keep playing Spider-Man for as long as Marvel and Sony want him, making it clear that he no longer has a fixed timeline for leaving the role. The actor added that the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day could help determine how much longer his journey as Peter Parker continues.

While promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the actor reflected on how much his perspective has changed since he previously suggested he did not want to be playing Spider-Man after turning 30.

Looking back, he called those comments “naive”, explaining that he now understands the character means much more than simply starring in another superhero movie. Instead of focusing on an age limit, he wants to make sure Peter Parker’s story reaches a natural and satisfying conclusion.

Holland also addressed his immediate future in the franchise with one of his clearest statements yet.

I will do it for as long as they have me. So, if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see“.

The comment suggests that audience reception and the continued interest of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures will play a major role in determining whether he returns beyond Brand New Day.

Rather than treating this fourth solo film as the end of his journey, he appears open to extending his run as the web-slinger if the story continues to evolve. Another key part of Holland’s comments centered on the legacy of Spider-Man.

He revealed that he hopes to stay involved long enough to help introduce whoever eventually succeeds him, saying he would gladly mentor the next actor to wear the mask. He even joked that he would personally teach his successor everything he has learned after more than a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
