Tom Holland Says Peter Parker Remains the True Role Model
As “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” arrives in theaters, Holland made it clear that the character’s cultural impact is never far from his mind. While discussing the role, he said one of the most meaningful parts of making the films is knowing children look to Spider-Man for inspiration.

“For me, it is the biggest responsibility of making these movies, is making sure that young kids have someone that they can look up to,” Holland shared to People. He quickly added that the admiration should be directed toward Peter Parker rather than himself, emphasizing, “I don’t mean that in me, I mean that in Peter Parker.”
The actor explained that his connection to the Marvel hero began long before he stepped into the suit. “I’ve looked up to him for years and years. He’s been a role model to me since I was a young kid, and even since I started playing him.” Holland also noted that it is “a responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and something that I think is really important.”
The comments arrive as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opens a fresh chapter for Peter Parker following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Set four years later, the film follows Peter as he continues protecting New York while living in complete anonymity after the world forgot his identity. At the same time, he faces a dangerous new threat as unexpected changes begin affecting his spider-powered abilities.
The latest installment, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, features the return of Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, while adding Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Mark Ruffalo, and Marisa Tomei to a cast that pushes Peter into a more mature stage of his journey.
