Spider-Man Brand New Day’s Post Credits Scene Explained: What’s Next for Tom Holland?

According to Variety, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" closes with a post-credits scene that raises a major question about Tom Holland's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the picture wraps up Peter Parker’s latest battle on Earth, its final tease suggests his next destination could be much farther away. The brief sequence offers no definitive answers, but it lays the groundwork for what may come next as Marvel prepares for its next two Avengers films.

What Does Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Post-Credits Scene Mean?

After the events of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Peter Parker appears ready to move beyond New York. The post-credits scene revisits Ned Leeds’ Spidey Tracker, an app designed to monitor Spider-Man’s location. Instead of stopping somewhere in the city, the tracker continues zooming outward until it reveals that the web-slinger is no longer on Earth. The moment ends with a simple promise that Spider-Man will return, leaving his next destination intentionally unexplained.

That tease has fueled speculation because Holland has not been officially announced as part of the main cast for “Avengers: Doomsday.” The upcoming crossover is scheduled to bring together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakandans, and the New Avengers against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. Even so, Marvel has kept many story details under wraps, making the possibility of a surprise appearance difficult to rule out.

If Spider-Man does not have a significant role in “Doomsday,” the post-credits scene could instead be pointing toward “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Marvel Studios first announced the project during San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, and the picture is now set to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay. “Secret Wars” is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.

Although Marvel has not confirmed how Spider-Man fits into those plans, “Brand New Day” clearly positions Peter Parker for another chapter beyond his latest solo adventure. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, marks a fresh phase for Holland’s version of the character after the world forgot Peter Parker’s identity following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
