The possibility of a Spider-Man and Kingpin live-action confrontation has remained one of Marvel fans’ most requested matchups, but questions surrounding character rights have created uncertainty around whether Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk could ever face Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on the big screen.

After D’Onofrio described the situation as a “complicated rights issue”, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offered a different perspective on the matter. While D’Onofrio previously suggested that agreements between Marvel and Sony were preventing Kingpin from appearing in a Spider-Man movie, he explained that the situation is not as complicated as it may seem.

What did Kevin Feige say about Kingpin’s Spider-Man movie rights?

Kevin Feige said the rights situation surrounding Kingpin’s appearance in a live-action Spider-Man movie is not as complicated as Vincent D’Onofrio previously suggested.

During an interview with Amy Pascal, the Marvel Studios president addressed D’Onofrio’s comments about potential rights issues and explained that there are still discussions involved, but the situation is manageable. Feige said:

There are things to navigate like everything else, but we talked about all those things”.

The clarification came after Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Marvel’s live-action universe, suggested that bringing the character into a Spider-Man movie could be complicated because of the relationship between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

His comments sparked renewed speculation about whether fans could eventually see Kingpin face Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on the big screen. His response painted a more optimistic picture, indicating that Kingpin’s possible transition into a Spider-Man film is not blocked by an impossible legal obstacle.

Instead, the challenge appears to be similar to other Marvel collaborations involving shared characters, where creative plans and studio agreements must be aligned before a crossover can happen.
