Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania left the future of the shrinking superhero franchise hanging after sending Scott Lang, Cassie Lang and the Van Dyne family into one of the most unpredictable corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, Kathryn Newton, who stepped into the role of Cassie Lang in the third installment, has addressed the possibility of an Ant-Man 4, suggesting that the character’s return could depend on the level of support from fans.

Why does Kathryn Newton think Ant-Man 4 could happen?

Kathryn Newton believes an Ant-Man 4 movie could become a reality if enough fans continue to support the franchise, arguing that Marvel Studios pays attention to audience demand when deciding which stories move forward.

During an interview with The Direct, the actress, who plays Cassie Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, pointed to the influence of fandom when discussing the possibility of returning for another chapter. “If fans want something, we listen”, she said, highlighting the role audiences can play in shaping the future of Marvel projects.

Her comments come as the future of the Ant-Man franchise remains uncertain following Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The 2023 film expanded Cassie Lang’s role by introducing her as a young hero with her own connection to Pym technology and the Quantum Realm, opening the door for future stories centered around the next generation of Marvel characters.

Although Marvel Studios has not officially announced Ant-Man 4, Newton’s comments suggest that fan interest could become an important factor in bringing Scott Lang’s corner of the MCU back to the big screen.

The franchise has already shown longevity, with three theatrical releases since 2015, but its next step will depend on Marvel’s broader plans and the demand surrounding its characters. The possibility of another sequel also raises questions about Cassie Lang’s evolution after Quantumania.

While Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang remains the face of the franchise, Marvel introduced Cassie as a character who could eventually inherit part of the Ant-Man legacy, especially as the studio continues exploring younger heroes across the MCU.

However, the road toward a fourth installment would not come without challenges. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earned more than $476 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing entry in the trilogy, but it also faced mixed reactions from critics and audiences compared with earlier films in the series.
