Paul Mescal has been one of the most beloved actors since his breakthrough role in Hulu’s miniseries “Normal People” (2020) almost immediately becoming a heartthrob. So, interest in his personal life has always been high and it seems like the star is dating someone new: indie musician Gracie Abrams.
So far, Mescal’s only public and confessed relationship had been with boygenius musician Phoebe Bridgers. The pair met after Bridgers’ professed her love for his role in “Normal People” on X (formerly Twitter) in May 2020, and then he also shared his admiration for her music.

The two of them then attended the Met Gala together in 2022, and by November of that year, The Guardian reported they were engaged. But breakup rumors started circulating a month after, when Bridgers was caught hanging out with comedian, actor and filmmaker Bo Burham. Since then, Mescal hasn’t been seen with anyone… Until now. According to TMZ, Mescal, 28 years, and Abrams, 24, were seen together having dinner at BRAT Restaurant in London. The outlet reports that the pair “ordered a bunch of small sharing plants” and “they seemed to be having a great conversation, too.”
The eyewitnesses also told the outlet that “at one point he even reaches over and strokes her cheek.” Abrams is best known for her music career. She has been the opener for both Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, and received a Grammy nomination as Best New Artist in 2024.
However, don’t expect any confirmation of their relationship, as Mescal has said that he won’t be talking about his personal life again. In February 2023, Mescal revealed that addressing speculation about his dating life was “a wise thing to do,” especially after the rumors with Bridgers.
“When Normal People came out, I was very forthright in interviews, and it didn’t actually serve me. But the temptation still exists to be like, ‘Shut the f–k up. This is my life. This is what’s going on. Or this is what’s not going on,'” he told the outlet.
He also said that he will try to keep his romantic life to himself. “As much as I can, that’s going to be my life that is private,” he continued. “That’s a difficult thing to achieve. But giving strangers an answer about my life doesn’t actually help me. It’s like a quick boost of serotonin, being like, ‘I’ve said what I need to say.’ And then it’s just Twitter fodder,” he concluded.

As often goes, the media and audiences have to remember that not everything is as it seems. Fans have speculated that Mescal and his “Normal People” co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, who is close to him, have feelings for each other. The pair recently was together at Glastonbury Festival, alongside Saoirse Ronan, who also worked with Mescal in “Foe.”
On social media, there have also been speculations of him dating “The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri, as they shared “cozy” pictures. They have said that they would love to work together in a romantic comedy, and fans speculated about a possible Emily Henry’s adaptation. He also sparked dating rumors with actress Natalie Portman, whom he was sharing a cigarette with a few months ago.
