Bob Odenkirk is not chasing capes and cosmic crossovers, but he is no longer ruling them out either. In an interview with The Direct, the actor addressed long-circulating speculation about a potential Marvel Studios role while appearing at SXSW, shutting down one rumor while leaving the larger door wide open.
From Saul Goodman to Superheroes?
The chatter centered on whether “Wonder Man” had quietly enlisted Odenkirk in late 2022. The answer was simple. “No, no, no, no, no. ‘Wonder Man,’ that’s the new one, right? I saw a billboard for it. And it looked great… No, I’ve never heard that [rumor]… That sounds like fun.”

Asked directly about the prospect of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Odenkirk didn’t hedge. “Surely I would. Yes. So many great actors do it, and they’re great people.” He even pointed to a past encounter with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, adding, “Good guy. And I love what they’re doing, I love how hard they work at making their universe work, building it out”
The openness lands at an interesting moment in Odenkirk’s career. Since closing the chapter on “Better Call Saul” in 2022, he has deliberately reshaped his screen persona. His action turn in “Nobody” proved more than a one-off experiment, establishing him as a credible presence in physically demanding roles and leading to a sequel. That momentum has continued with “Normal,” a crime thriller in which he plays a sheriff while also serving as a producer, set to be released April 17.
There is also the broader context of resilience. Odenkirk’s return to work after a serious on-set heart attack in 2021 has quietly informed this new era, one that leans into physically and creatively demanding projects. In the meantime, as Marvel brings its most successful phase to a close with “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” it remains to be seen where he might fit.
