Apple TV+ has been building a strong reputation thanks to their original series and movies with prestige directors and actors. And, one of their most acclaimed shows is ‘Severance,’ a dystopian office drama that charmed critics and audiences alike.
The series stars Adam Scott as Mark, who leads a group of office workers who had their memories split between work and personal life through surgery. But when a mysterious coworker shows up outside the office, it sets them on a quest to uncover the truth about their jobs.
Ben Stiller serves as executive producer and co-director alongside Aoife McArdle, with Dan Erickson as creator. The series received 14 nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. After almost two years without news, an Apple TV+ cryptic post on X of Scott as Mark (see below) has fans freaking out about Season 2. Here’s everything we know so far.

Is there going to be a Season 2 of Severance?
Yes. Before the first season’s finale, it was confirmed that a second season is coming. Stiller confirmed the news on his Instagram and then spoke to Variety about it. “It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show, and the level of fan engagement,” he told the outlet.
What will season 2 of Severance be about?
Without spoilers, Erickson has talked about his wish to explore the split lives of the other characters apart from Mark. “In season 2, we’re going to be showing all of these people on the outside,” Erickson told Entertainment Weekly. “Similar to Mark, they each had their own reason for getting this procedure, and they’re all at some stage of a healing process for one thing or another.”
Severance Season 2: Who is returning?
It’s confirmed that the main cast is returning, including Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette.

Is there a release date for Season 2 of Severance?
No, at the moment, there’s no potential release date, but it’s likely to be in 2024. Fans have been waiting for so long, and there have been upsetting rumors about creative differences between the team.
However, Stiller went to X (formerly Twitter) back in April 2023 to clear the air about those: “We’re on the same really slow schedule we’ve always been on. Same target air date we’ve always had.” On the other hand, the WGA and Actor’s strike also probably delayed production.
