It’s been a while since “Five Nights at Freddy’s” premiered in theaters, but its success persists. Just a week ago, it re-entered the Top 10 on Prime Video in the United States, despite being added to the catalog on March 5th.
The horror film, based on the popular video game series of the same name, became Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film worldwide. Creator Scott Cawthon assured fans it would be a movie made with them in mind, and he delivered.
Although Cawthon drew more inspiration from the lore of the books based on the game rather than the original source material, he managed to create a picture that was thoroughly enjoyed by gamers.
Prime Video: Five Nights at Freddy’s hits the US Top 10 again
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” stands as the most influential game franchise of the last decade. Therefore, its resurgence on Prime Video, where it has entered the Top 10 movies in the United States catalog, comes as no surprise.
Remarkably, it has surpassed “Road House,” Jake Gyllenhaal‘s film that has been a strong contender on the charts. Now, it is in a tight competition with Daniel Craig‘s “Skyfall” to continue its ascent.
The plot revolves around Mike, a security guard who begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and soon discovers that the restaurant’s animatronic mascots come to life at night, posing a deadly threat.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, and Matthew Lillard, the title delivers outstanding performances.
According to statements by the actor from “Scream,” Blumhouse plans to create a trilogy based on the game. Currently, the sequel is scheduled for release on December 5, 2025.
