‘Love, Rosie,’ the romantic drama starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, has reached the number 1 spot of the most streamed list on Paramount+, according to FlixPatrol. The film, originally released in 2014, has become a fan-favorite for lovers of the genre.
The movie is based on the 2004 novel “Where Rainbows End” by Irish author Cecelia Ahern. It follows longtime friends Rosie and Alex, who must navigate through the challenges of growing up together and apart, developing feelings for each other along the way.
Apart from Claflin and Collins, the film also stars Suki Waterhouse (who also worked with Claflin in the 2023 series ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’), Christian Cooke, Tamsin Egerton, Jamie Beamish and Jaime Winstone.
‘Love, Rosie’: A timeless friends-to-lovers tale
While ‘Love, Rosie’ received mostly negative reviews from critics at the time of its release, especially for the writing, fans of the couple of Alex and Rosie have always been vocal about their love for the film. Even ten years laters, edits with the pair are still found on social media in platforms such as X or TikTok, as a new generation finds the story.
Claflin and Collins’ chemistry put Alex and Rosie up to other favorite couples from the friends-to-lovers trope, such as Emma and Dexter from “One Day” (which was recently adapted by Netflix in a series), as well as Normal People’s Connell and Marianne.
Apart from the usual challenges of being in love, Rosie also has to deal with a teen pregnancy. However, as Collins said when promoting the film back in 2014, she “respected the way she handled herself throughout what most people would consider a bump in the road—literally.”
The film was directed by Christian Ditter (known for How to Be Single and the Netflix series Girlboss), and was adapted by Juliette Towhidi, who is also known for titles such as “Calendar Girls” and “Testament For Youth.”
