David Corenswet is set to become the new Superman/Clark Kent, but first, he will appear in the romantic drama “The Greatest Hits.” The film, which will arrive in select theaters in April, stars Lucy Boynton as Harriett, a young woman who discovers that certain songs can help her travel in time.
Thanks to this ability, she gets to spend time with her former boyfriend, played by Corenswet. However, when she starts to fall in love with David, portrayed by Justin H. Min, things will get more complicated: will she stay in the past or move on?
The movie was written and directed by Ned Benson, who is known for titles such as “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby,” “Black Widow” and “Imaginary Heroes.” While it will only be in some theaters in the US, you won’t have to wait long to watch it on streaming.
Where is ‘The Greatest Hits’ coming to streaming?
After the film’s limited release in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Denver, San Diego, and Atlanta, it will be available for streaming on Hulu in the United States on April 12th. That same day it will arrive on Disney+ on the rest of the world, and on Star+ in Latin America.
Benson reveals the inspiration behind ‘The Greatest Hits’
In an interview with Elle, Benson revealed that he started writing the script for the film in 2008. However, it was in 2020 when he picked it back up. He told the magazine that during the pandemic, music “was the thing that really kept our spirits up and gave us hope and connected us and reminded us to live.”
“I think I also needed more heartbreak, more relationships, [and] more experience to really make sense of what this movie was about, which is that we have capacity in our hearts to love more than one person,” he added.
Meanwhile, talking about the cast, Benson said that he immediately knew that Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody, Chevalier) was the right choice for Harriett. “I remember it was her first big scene and I was like, Oh wow, this person is amazing and special, and she’s such an incredible actor,” he told the magazine.
About Min, who recently appeared in “Beef,” he said that he is “just very vulnerable and amazing. And I was like, Oh, this is who David is. He has that sweetness and openness; he was a proper human being.”
And, of course, he also got praise for the new Superman, Corenswet, telling Elle that “it was obvious working with him how great an actor he was.” Austin Crute, who’s appeared on Booksmart and Atlanta, completes the cast.
