“The Batman” star Zoë Kravitz is set to make her directorial debut with the thriller “Blink Twice,” starring Channing Tatum. The movie, according to the first footage, is set on an island in which nothing is what it seems. Here’s what to know about the project.
Kravitz, who is also known for titles such as “High Fidelity,” co-wrote the script with E.T. Feigenbaum. The film has been a passion project for the actress, as she started working on it in 2017 with the working title “Pussy Island.”
The movie is being described as psychological drama, and it will explore themes surrounding gender and violence, as it was inspired by the “Me Too” movement. Apart from Tatum, who is set to showcase a very different side of him, he is not the only known star set to appear.
Who else is in the cast of ‘Blink Twice’?
The ensemble cast of “Blink Twice,” led by Tatum, also includes: Naomi Ackie, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Kyle MacLachlan, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat.
Tatum, according to Collider, described his character in the film as someone “a little darker than I’ve ever played.” The actor, who has been dating Kravitz since 2021, is also producing the film.
What is ‘Blink Twice’ about?
The movie follows a cocktail waitress Frida, played by Ackie, who meets tech billionaire Slater King (Tatum) at his fundraising gala and they share a connection. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. While everything seems like a paradise, weird things start to happen and Frida will have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.
According to Collider, Tatum explained that the film is “exploring some very uncomfortable themes,” which were “scary to play because it’s definitely going to be a talk piece when it comes out. I think people are really gonna want to talk about it. That’s kind of the point, in a way. It’s meant to unsettle you.”
When is ‘Blink Twice’ coming out?
Blink Twice is scheduled to be released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios on August 23, 2024. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. will distribute the film internationally from August 21, 2024.
