“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has generated high expectations as a sequel that blends nostalgia with a fresh twist, bringing back iconic characters like Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz, while introducing new faces such as Astrid.
The sequel maintains Tim Burton‘s signature dark and comedic style, with the director opting for traditional techniques like practical effects and stop-motion animation, evoking his work in movies like Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie.
Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Arthur Conti were some of the new additions to the cast. Each of them shone at their brightest, but especially the standout actress from Wednesday.

Was the sequel more successful than the original?
That’s right! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was significantly more successful than the original 1988 film, largely due to the mix of audiences—fans of the original joined by a new generation of viewers.
The reviews highlighted both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the visual style, standout performances (especially from Keaton and Ryder), and the dark atmosphere created by Danny Elfman’s score were praised.
However, some critics noted that certain performances were exaggerated, and the plot could have benefited from more development of secondary characters, like Monica Bellucci‘s role, Delores.
