While no one seemed to be clamoring for another installment in the “Alien” franchise, Ridley Scott knows all too well that we’ll eagerly sprint to theaters for every spin-off, prequel and sequel of the universe he created in 1979.
Box office projections for “Alien: Romulus” prove his point. Even though the last installment received a cold reception from the critics, it still performed impressively at the box office. Whether “Romulus” is a hit or a miss, it’s likely to achieve similar, if not greater, success.
As is customary whenever the Xenomorphs return to the big screen, a massive marketing campaign has begun, and it not only includes the much-discussed facehugger street stunts but also a range of brand endorsements.
Reebok rolls out exclusive ‘Alien: Romulus’ footwear
As is widely known, brand endorsements have been a staple in cinema since its inception. Whether subtle or obvious, from a Rolex watch to a Coca-Cola drink, characters often serve as partners to the many consumer companies that sponsor films.
If you’re attentive to details, you might have noticed Cailee Spaeny sporting some stylish Reebok shoes in the “Alien: Romulus” trailer. Fans of the franchise instantly recognized them as a modified version of the “Alien Stompers” worn by Ripley and Bishop in “Aliens”.
To celebrate the sci-fi universe’s return, Reebok is releasing limited edition replicas of the iconic footwear! Dubbed the “Reebok Alien Romulus,” these sneakers will be available for purchase at a price of $170, starting August 27.
Those who love “Alien” and enjoy collecting the intersections of fashion and film know very well that this release is part of a longstanding collaboration between the Ridley Scott creation and Reebok.
The partnership began with their first appearance in the second installment, continued in 2016 for the 30th anniversary of James Cameron’s film, and was revived in 2019 for the 40th anniversary of the original 1979 movie, as reported by Bloody Disgusting.
