While there has been discourse asking if superheroes have lost their power in Hollywood, Disney+’s most streamed series of the week is “Echo,” a Hawkeye spin-off that stars Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.
According to FlixPatrol, a specialized website that collects viewership data, the series is the number on the platform worldwide, surpassing popular titles such as “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” and “Bluey.”
Meanwhile, in the US, the series is the third most-streamed. It’s precisely behind those two titles previously mentioned. One of the interesting facts about this feat, is that this series is the first one from Marvel that has released all its episodes at once.
What is “Echo” about?
Echo, which was released on Jan. 9th, follows Maya Lopez (Cox) is being pursued by Wilson Fisk’s organization and returns to her hometown five months after the events of Hawkeye (2021). There she will be dealing with her past, reconnecting with her Native American heritage, and embracing her family and community.
Apart from Cox, the rest of the cast includes Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene. The series also features appearances from Vincent D’Onofrio, as Kingpin, as well as Charlie Cox, as Daredevil.
Marion Dayre and Amy Rardin served as headwriters, while Sydney Freeland led the directing team. The show received positive reviews by critics, and it boasts a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
