Pattinson did not frame the upcoming picture as a natural extension of the 2022 hit so much as a deliberate departure, noting to Deadline, “The script is extraordinary.”
What seems to excite him most is not just the quality of the writing, but its unpredictability. He described the project as “a really, really special movie and very, very different,” suggesting a sequel that resists the gravitational pull of franchise familiarity. In an era where superhero follow ups often double down on what worked before, that phrasing lands with weight.
That sense of deviation appears to extend beyond tone into structure and ambition. Pattinson admitted the direction caught him off guard, pointing to a picture that is willing to challenge even those closest to it. “It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out,” he added, hinting at something that may divide as much as it impresses.
