Games Workshop revealed the latest progress in its annual financial report, where CEO Kevin Rountree said Amazon has brought United Artists and Mike Flanagan into the development process. According to the update, the team has completed early story outlines and is expected to move into scriptwriting next.
While no casting additions, release window, or plot details were announced, the report marks the first substantial public milestone since Amazon and Games Workshop finalized their agreement to develop “Warhammer 40,000” film and television projects in late 2024.
The report also confirmed that Cavill remains actively involved behind the scenes. The actor has spoken publicly about his long-standing passion for “Warhammer 40,000” and has described adapting its extensive mythology as one of the most demanding creative challenges of his career. His continued participation is significant given the lengthy silence surrounding the project, which had led some fans to question whether development had slowed or whether his role had changed.
Flanagan’s arrival introduces another notable name to the production. The filmmaker has become one of the most recognizable voices in modern horror through projects including “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Midnight Mass,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” and the upcoming “Carrie” series for Amazon Prime Video. His résumé also includes films such as “Doctor Sleep,” “Gerald’s Game,” and “The Life of Chuck,” along with writing the first draft of DC Studios’ upcoming “Clayface.”
