After five seasons of sharp insults, creative clashes, and emotional breakthroughs, Hannah Einbinder is saying goodbye to Ava Daniels in a way that felt more intimate than promotional.

Hannah Einbinder Says Farewell to Ava Daniels After Five Seasons of ‘Hacks’

As “Hacks” closes the book on its award winning run, Einbinder chose to address Ava Daniels directly in a candid Instagram post that quickly resonated with fans of the series. “ava, i used to think it was SO CORNY and super cringe when actors would talk about or to their characters as if they were real people, and i kinda still do, but for you, i don’t care how this looks,” she wrote at the beginning of the message.

The actress acknowledged the vulnerability of publicly sharing the letter, adding, “yeah. im typing you a letter and posting it online for the world to see. that’s how much my love for you outweighs my desire to seem ‘cool’ or ‘mentally well.’” Einbinder has played Ava since the HBO Max comedy premiered in 2021, with the character evolving from a blacklisted young writer into Deborah Vance’s closest creative partner.

Einbinder also reflected on how much of Ava still lingers in her daily life after filming wrapped. “i don’t feel like i have to say goodbye to you, ava. mostly because i have a lot of your clothes and wear something of yours maybe every day,” she shared, before admitting that “your impact on me is eternal.”

The post later turned toward the qualities she admired most in the character, particularly Ava’s refusal to stay quiet or compromise herself. “i often ask myself, ‘what would ava do?’ and often times the answer is she would say exactly what’s on her mind and never back down from what she believes is right,” Einbinder wrote.

She closed the tribute with a final message that captured both the end of the series and the lasting connection she feels to the role: “you guide me more than you know. so it’s not the end, ava daniels! you live forever in me.”
