For decades, Glover built a career that extended far beyond Hollywood, earning acclaim not only for performances in films such as “Lethal Weapon,” “The Color Purple,” “Witness,” and “Dreamgirls,” but also for his long-standing humanitarian work and civil rights advocacy. His latest public appearance, however, centered on a deeply personal chapter of his life.

Speaking candidly about his diagnosis, Glover acknowledged that the disease will continue to evolve. “I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing,” he said. Even so, he made clear that he does not feel alone, adding simply, “Absolutely. They’ve got my back,” when asked about the support of his loved ones.

His daughter, Mandisa Glover, explained that the family wanted him to tell his own story instead of allowing speculation to define it. “I think it’s really important for him to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story,” she said, adding that “the time is now” for him to speak publicly. She also noted that she no longer wanted to reassure people that everything was fine when that was no longer the reality.

The announcement also coincides with Glover’s collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, which is using his story to raise awareness about early detection and healthy lifestyle habits that may help reduce risk. Although the actor acknowledged the changes the disease has brought, he also expressed acceptance of his current reality, saying, “I could live with it, in a sense.”

Family remains at the center of that journey. His younger brother, Martin Glover, reflected on their lifelong bond and the opportunity to support the actor after years of receiving his encouragement. “He took me under his wing, and I love him to death,” Martin said. “And I’m here to help him now. It’s my turn.”
