The actor is expected to continue starring alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, preserving the show’s central trio as work on the next chapter moves forward.

Tom Hardy to Return for ‘MobLand’ Season 3 After Behind the Scenes Dispute

Hardy’s future on the series had become a major talking point after reports surfaced that his working relationship with writer, executive producer and showrunner Jez Butterworth had deteriorated during production on Season 2. Industry reports described disagreements over the creative direction of the hit, along with claims of on-set friction and scheduling issues. Rumors that the actor had been removed from the project circulated online, but subsequent reports clarified that discussions were continuing in an effort to resolve the situation.

Those negotiations ultimately resulted in a meeting in London involving Hardy, Butterworth and executive producer David Glasser. Deadline reports that the conversation led to an agreement on how to move forward, allowing Hardy to remain with the series. Executive producer Guy Ritchie also reportedly played a role in helping bring both sides together. In the weeks leading up to the meeting, Helen Mirren publicly showed support for her co-star by sharing a photo of Hardy on social media accompanied by the message, “Love you now and always.”

The decision keeps intact the three characters who have anchored “MobLand” since its debut. Hardy stars as fixer Harry Da Souza, who works for the powerful Harrigan crime family led by Conrad Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan, and Maeve Harrigan, portrayed by Helen Mirren.

Created by Ronan Bennett, the crime drama follows Harry as he attempts to contain an escalating conflict between rival London crime organizations while navigating shifting loyalties within the Harrigan family.

Although Paramount+ has not formally announced a third season, a writers’ room is already working on new episodes, according to Deadline. The series premiered in March 2025 and became one of Paramount+’s biggest original launches, later earning a second season renewal.
