Este domingo 28 febrero se celebrararon la 78° edición de los Golden Globes, ceremonia en la que se premia a lo mejor del cine y la televisión durante el año 2020, un año que estuvo marcado por la pandemia del coronavirus. Justamente la crisis sanitaria dejó su huella también en los premios Globo de Oro y es por eso que la edición 2021 no solo se llevó a cabo 2 meses después de la fecha habitual, sino que además se realizó a través de una gala virtual sin precedentes.
La ceremonia de los Golden Globes 2021 se llevó a cabo de manera simultánea en las dos costas de Estados Unidos. Tina Fey y Amy Poehler fueron las anfitrionas encargadas de conectar el Rainbow Room de Nueva York con el Beverly Hilton en Los Angeles, California para una entrega de premios que contó con invitados estrella y sorpresas inéditas y que no tuvo con la tradicional previa de la alfombra roja debido a la modalidad virtual.
Respecto a las nominaciones para los premios Globo de Oro 2021, Netflix fue la compañía que arrasa con un total de 42 nominaciones, 22 de cine y 20 en las categorías de televisión. Le siguió Amazon con 7 candidaturas en cine, mientras que HBO tiene la misma cantidad en televisión.
