If there’s anything better than an action flick, it’s an action flick starring Kate Beckinsale, and Prime Video seems to know this very well. Its latest entry in the genre, “Canary Black,” features the star shining as she always does in these types of films.

The movie follows her as Avery Graves, a CIA agent whose husband is kidnapped by terrorists demanding information that would betray not only her colleagues but also her country.

In less than a day, the movie has already amassed an impressive number of views, with many viewers wondering whether there will be a sequel to expand Graves’ story. Here’s everything that is known so far. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Will we see more of Avery Graves?

If you have watched the final scenes of “Canary Black,” it’s natural to be left wondering about a sequel. The movie ends with a completely open finale! While it’s common for action productions to have sequels and additional installments even when they end conclusively, that is certainly not the case for Kate Beckinsale’s latest work.

In the end, Avery stops the Canary Black virus from being released, achieving the goal of her dangerous mission. However, it’s far from over for her, as Elizabeth offers her a position in the MC6, the new secret agency created after Breznov’s attack. The way she walks away full of doubts and questions indicates that she is clearly giving a lot of thought to the matter, creating a strong possibility for a second installment.

But we can’t celebrate a continuation just yet! If you are familiar with Prime Video’s parameters for its products, you should know that they are quite strict when it comes to viewership objectives. We have seen some big successes, like “My Lady Jane,” get canceled despite being loved and applauded by many viewers across the globe.

However, it is also true that productions with A-list stars tend to be renewed, so we can hopefully expect a second “Canary Black” movie unless it fails to rank in the worldwide or U.S. top charts, which doesn’t seem likely. If that were to happen, we can see its release in 2026, since the title took two years to produce after being announced at the Cannes Film Market in 2022, and this is also the typical timeframe for most productions on the streamer that receive sequels.
