One of our favorite spy action series is back, this time with a European twist! After the original “Citadel,” produced by the Russo brothers, debuted on Prime Video in April 2023 and became a massive hit, the streaming giant took the opportunity to expand the universe even further. Not only was “Citadel” renewed for a second season, but several international spin-offs in different languages were greenlit.
“Citadel: Diana” is the Italian spin-off, centering around Diana Cavalieri. The story is set in 2030, eight years after the independent global spy agency Citadel was dismantled by the powerful Manticore syndicate. Diana, an undercover Citadel agent, has been operating behind enemy lines as a mole in Manticore ever since.
With all six episodes now available for streaming, fans who have already binged the show are eagerly wondering if the streamer will produce a second part to continue Diana’s story. Here’s everything we know so far—spoilers ahead!
Will ‘Citadel: Diana’ continue? All that is known about Season 2
If you’ve finished watching the last episode of “Citadel: Diana,” it’s only natural to wonder if the story will continue. While the final scenes wrap up a significant part of Diana’s backstory, they leave a major question mark about what lies ahead for her after the latest revelation.
In Episode 6, just as Diana barely escapes death, she reunites with Gabriele—the man who trained her and became like a father figure, whom she believed to be dead. We’re given a brief glimpse of their emotional reunion before the screen fades to black. The most likely next step is for them to rebuild the Italian faction of Citadel, and it seems improbable that Prime Video will leave us hanging.
Based on the open-ended conclusion and the fact that the streamer has not only renewed the main “Citadel” series but also announced spin-offs in India, Spain, and Mexico, it seems highly likely that “Citadel: Diana” will also get a second season.
As for the release date, we could reasonably expect it within a year. According to Variety, the first season began filming in October 2022 and wrapped in May 2023. If the second season begins production before the end of 2024, we could anticipate its release in late 2025!
