Prime Video has bet on several romantic comedies in recent years, such as “Red, White & Royal Blue” and “The Other Zoey.” Now, it’s the turn for “Riverdale” star Camila Mendes and “Shadow and Bone” actor Archie Renaux to fall in love in “Upgraded.”
The film, which will will arrive on the platform on Feb. 9th, follows Mendes as Ana Santos, an aspiring art industry professional who works as an assistant for a gallery owned by the highly successful and intimidating Claire Dupont, played by Marisa Tomei.

When Claire requests Ana to join her on an important work trip to London, she will meet Will (Renaux), an intriguing English bachelor who is led to mistake her for the company’s director. After that? Well, a lot of trouble and romance will certainly follow.
‘Upgraded’ trailer: Mendes and Renoux fall in love in London
The trailer for the film was released on Jan. 16th, and it shows Mendes and Renoux getting cozy with each other while in London. Of course, it also teases trouble in paradise thanks to her “white lie.”
The movie is directed by Carlson Young (The Blazing World), and it was written by Christine Lenig, Luke Spencer Roberts and Justin Matthews (The Duel). Mendes is also credited as an executive producer on the new movie.
The cast also includes Saoirse-Monica Jackson, known for her role in “Derry Girls,” as well as Thomas Kretschmann, Gregory Montel, Aimee Carrero, Andrew Schulz, and Rachel Matthews Lena Olin.

Mendes is coming from the final season of CW’s “Riverdale,” as well as films such as Netflix’s teen comedy “Do Revenge.” She has also appeared in rom-coms such as “The Perfect Date” and “Palm Springs.” Meanwhile, Renaux, apart from “Shadow and Bone,” has recently appeared in “The Other Zoey” and “Catherine Called Birdie.”
