Gabriel García Márquez’s masterpiece “One Hundred Years of Solitude” (Cien Años de Soledad) is being brought to the screen thanks to Netflix. The emblematic novel, published in 1967, has been long considered a work impossible to adapt to another format, due to its complexity and extensiveness.

Moreover, García Márquez, or Gabo, as the Nobel prize-winning author was known, was against the idea of adapting the novel, as he always thought that his vision wouldn’t be honored if the book was turned into a movie. Especially one in English.

However, his son Rodrigo García, known for his work as filmmaker, has teamed up with Netflix to try to do justice to one of the greatest works in literature in a 16-episode series in Spanish. And the streamer has finally released the first teaser of the upcoming show, which was filmed in Colombia. Here’s all you need to know.
