According to What’s on Netflix, filming is now underway in Scotland, where the series will continue adapting Jussi Adler-Olsen‘s bestselling crime novels while expanding the story of Detective Carl Morck and his unconventional cold case unit.
‘Dept. Q’ Season 2 Expands Its Cast as Production Moves Forward
Matthew Goode is set to return as Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, leading the Department Q team once again. Also reprising their roles are Alexej Manvelov as Akram Salim, Leah Byrne as Rose Dickson, Jamie Sives as James Hardy, Mark Bonnar as Stephen Burns, Kate Dickie as Moira Jacobson, Aaron McVeigh as Jasper, and Sanjeev Kohli as Martin Fleming.
Joining the series for Season 2 are “Speak No Evil” star Aisling Franciosi as Kimmie, “The Crown” actor Greg Wise as Derek Powell, and “Spy Among Friends” star Nicholas Rowe as Thomas Fulton. The new additions also include “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” actor Tony Curran as Winnie Calderwood, “The Batman” star Alex Ferns as Phil Allenbeck, “Heartstopper” actress Rebecca Root as June Lovesay, “The Queen’s Gambit” breakout Isla Johnston as Agnes, and “Judging Amy” and “The Old Man” star Amy Brenneman as Helen.
Hamish Clark from “Monarch of the Glen” has also joined the cast as Christopher Herron, while Ross Anderson, known for “The Last Kingdom” and “Lift,” will portray Ricky Daddario.
Created by Scott Frank and Chandni Lakhani, the show follows Morck, an emotionally scarred detective who is assigned to lead a newly established cold case department after surviving a violent ambush that left his partner seriously injured.
Operating from an overlooked basement office, Morck gradually assembles a team of unlikely investigators to reopen long-forgotten crimes. The first installment premiered on Netflix in May 2025 and earned strong critical reviews, with praise directed at its performances, writing, and central mystery.
