The heist thriller, which brings together Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson and Daisy Edgar-Jones, is now expected to debut in 2027. According to Variety, the production wrapped in January after filming in New Jersey, leaving a relatively short window for post-production as Netflix prepared an already crowded year-end movie slate.

“Here Comes the Flood” has been in development for several years, with Netflix acquiring Simon Kinberg’s script in 2020. The project eventually took shape with Washington, Pattinson and Edgar-Jones joining the cast in 2025, while Fernando Meirelles came aboard as director. Meirelles previously directed “City of God” and “The Two Popes,” adding an established filmmaker to an already high-profile production.

The story centers on three people whose interests collide in a dangerous web of deception. A bank guard, a teller and a professional thief become entangled in a series of cons and double crosses, giving the movie a setup that goes beyond a conventional robbery.
The main trio is supported by Danai Gurira, Sean Harris, Moisés Arias and Justin Kirk. Principal photography began in November 2025, with production taking place across locations including Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark, Atlanta and New York City. Filming officially wrapped on January 22.
The change to a 2027 release comes as the three leads remain busy with other projects. Washington has “Black Panther 3” in development, while Pattinson is in the middle of a particularly active period that includes A24’s “Primetime,” in which he plays television host Chris Hansen, as well as his upcoming appearances in “Dune: Part Three” and “The Batman Part II.” Edgar-Jones, meanwhile, is currently preparing to promote “Sense and Sensibility,” in which she plays one of the Dashwood sisters.
