Netflix has once again refreshed its Top 10, both globally and in the United States, and they both have one thing in common – “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has become the most-watched series just two days after its release.

The new live-action adaptation of the classic Nickelodeon TV show seems to be a favorite among users. Although it’s still unclear if there will be a second season, Avatar Studios confirmed that the original series will have a sequel.

This is due to the hype and success it has gained since being reborn with the streaming giant’s production, which acquired the rights and carried out a new adaptation under the direction of Albert Kim, the creator of the show.

Avatar: The Last Airbender ranked No. 1 on Netflix

Netflix users have demonstrated time and time again that dramatic science fiction series are among their favorites. Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered just two days ago and has already become the most-watched globally.

According to Flix Patrol, the new live-action adaptation first claimed the number one spot in the United States and then became the most chosen by viewers worldwide, topping the charts in several other countries.

It seems that the significant impact left by the original series on pop culture and television has not faded, as the hype has returned in full force, and fans who have already watched the first season are clamoring for more.

Its rich narrative, complex characters, and mature themes have once again attracted a wide audience. When it originally premiered in 2005, it was quite innovative in terms of plot and exploration.

The story delves into dark and complex themes, something uncommon in children’s animations at that time. It also incorporated elements of Asian cultures into its fictional world, earning praise for its cultural representation and diversity.

The fact that the streaming giant has invested in the project has benefited the original production with a resurgence, leading to the announcement of a sequel as a movie, to be launched in October 2025.

What is Avatar: The Last Airbender about?

Originally created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the show is set in a fictional world where certain individuals, known as “benders”, have the ability to control one of the four elements: water, earth, fire and air.

The plot follows the story of Aang, the last Avatar, a being capable of mastering all the elements and destined to maintain balance among the nations. He awakens after being frozen for a hundred years and discovers that the Fire Nation has unleashed a devastating war.

Throughout the series, Aang, along with his friends Katara and Sokka, embarks on a mission to defeat the Fire Nation and bring peace to the world. However, things are not as easy as they seem, and chaos quickly begins to unfold, with problems arising without delay.
