“Lonely Planet” is the upcoming romantic film by filmmaker Susannah Grant, starring Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), who will be collaborating on a project of this kind for the first time.
The title is a Netflix original production, so it will be added to the platform’s catalog soon. Although it had a budget of $50 million, the service invested 190 million dirhams, according to The Economic Times.
The Oscar-winning actress has talked about what it was like working with her co-star and said: “Liam was pure magic. He became not only a buddy and a confidant through our Moroccan adventure“.

Until a few days ago, not much was known about Lonely Planet, but Netflix has not only revealed its plot but also announced when it will be available on the streaming platform, with its release date set for October 11.

What is Lonely Planet about?
Lonely Planet, the new romantic drama on the platform, takes place at a retreat in Morocco and follows a woman who meets a young man. Their friendship turns into an intoxicating romantic relationship that will change her life.
Laura Dern is the one who plays Katherine, a novelist who travels abroad and unexpectedly falls into an unlikely love story. The actress has had quite a bit to say about the character and, according to Netflix, she confessed:
“She has spent her life dedicated to narrative and therefore [hasn’t spent] much time looking at deep truth within. She is at a turning point in her life where she is looking for a softening and deeper understanding, and she finds it in a love story“.
