The first week of “Joker 2” has certainly been quite an event! While the sequel isn’t performing well at the box office, it has sparked significant debate on social media. Many are intrigued to watch the film only to determine if it truly lives up to the negative reviews and scores from authorized movie rating sites.

In this sequel, we find Arthur Fleck imprisoned, struggling with the consequences of the crimes he committed in the first installment. All seems hopeless until he meets Lee, a patient at Arkham State Hospital, with whom he falls in love at first sight. However, she harbors more than one secret.

Lady Gaga’s performance has undoubtedly been a major hit. Fans who admired her singing and acting in “A Star Is Born” were eager to see her back on the big screen, and her portrayal of the Harley Quinn archetype has received widespread acclaim, leading audiences to express their desire to see her take on a potential “Joker 3” as the protagonist. Will that happen? Beware, spoilers are ahead!

Will Todd Phillips collaborate with Lady Gaga on a Harley Quinn film?

If you’ve seen the final minutes of “Joker 2,” it’s understandable to think there’s ample opportunity for Lee to be developed as the main character in a movie of her own. At the end, Arthur Fleck escapes to reunite with her on the iconic stairs from the first installment, where she breaks up with him and vanishes, while the police once again imprison the anti-heroe.

Naturally, many have asked Todd Phillips about the possibility of continuing the “Joker” legacy with a third part. His response to Variety has been quite definitive and not particularly hopeful: “It was fun to play in this sort of sandbox for two movies, but I think we’ve said what we wanted to say in this world.”

Additionally, considering the title’s underwhelming box office performance and its cold reception from critics, it’s hard to envision Todd Phillips subjecting himself to that level of scrutiny again. His comments regarding a potential trilogy have become increasingly clear, with his recent statement to the Hollywood Reporter regarding a third flick being: “It’s not really where this movie (Joker 2) is headed for me. I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.”

All things considered, it appears we’ve seen Lady Gaga as Lee for the first and last time in “Joker 2.” While we would love to see her back on the big screen, the actress is currently focused on the awards season and her music endeavors, which include the anticipated release of her upcoming album, LG7, as well as a rumored worldwide tour!
