Horror fans are often frustrated when beloved films get dragged into endless prequels, sequels, spin-offs, and remakes. But “Final Destination” was practically born to keep going, each chapter finding new and gruesome ways to explore its core idea. That spirit is alive and kicking in “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” the sixth entry in the franchise, and one that’s making audiences cover their eyes for all the right reasons.

This time, the story follows a college student who inherits visions from her dying grandmother—visions linked to a near-disaster in 1968 that was narrowly avoided. When she learns that Death is coming for her family, the famous rhythm begins. The premonition hits, the tension builds, and the deaths unfold in the most unexpected ways.

With $124.2 million earned in just one week, the picture is already a massive box office success. As viewers leave theaters reeling, the big question hangs in the air: is there more to come from this deadly universe?

Is ‘Final Destination 7’ on the Horizon?

The long gap between films, from 2011’s “Final Destination” 5 to 2025’s “Bloodlines,” led many to believe the franchise had finally run its course. Back then, fans recalled Tony Todd teasing that if the fifth part performed well, two more would be shot back-to-back. Despite that promise, years passed with no real movement, and the idea of a continuation began to fade from memory.

That changed in January 2019 when New Line Cinema officially confirmed that a new installment was in development. Fast forward to now, and with “Bloodlines” out in the world, the big question is whether a seventh installment is on the horizon. The director of Bloodlines seems optimistic, telling The Direct that the story is far from over. “Death’s work is never done. There’s always more scores to settle,” he said, though he acknowledged the lengthy development process required to make it happen.

Producer Craig Perry also expressed interest in continuing the film series. He noted that “Bloodlines” has pushed the boundaries of what the series can be, opening the door to even more creative possibilities. With strong box office numbers and the best critical reception the franchise has seen so far, the chances of “Final Destination” returning again seem higher than ever.
