There are few series as iconic as Peaky Blinders, and after six seasons of pure success, it will be back after a two-year absence, as it was confirmed that the creator is working on a movie.
Steven Knight is developing a cinematic adaptation about the characters that have left a mark on an entire generation and are based on a true story. The British writer was also responsible for the TV show.
Best of all, the continuation will bring back some of the main actors to their former roles. Cillian Murphy will be one of them, and it has been confirmed that he will once again wear the stylish suit of Thomas Shelby.

Good news, fans! Thomas Shelby and his brothers will be back, but this time on the big screen, as the arrival of a Peaky Blinders movie with the original cast of the series has been confirmed.
Steven Knight, creator and writer of the show, was the one who announced the news, and according to the Birmingham World, filming will begin at his Digbeth Loc studios in September 2024.
The writer has just released a new production titled This Town, and during the red carpet event, he didn’t miss the opportunity to talk about the new movie that is in the works and assured that the actor from Oppenheimer will be present.
At the event, which took place on March 19, he confirmed that the Oscar winner “will definitely return for it. We’ll shoot it in September, right down the street in Digbeth“.

Furthermore, he also took a few minutes to talk about Cillian Murphy and showered him with praise for his recent victory at the Academy Awards for his work in Christopher Nolan’s film. He said:
“It was very well deserved. I mean, he’s brilliant, he’s a great human being, and he leads the line when we shoot, and he’s very sensible and straightforward. He deserves everything he gets“.
On June 4, Netflix confirmed that they will distributed the movie, which will be directed by Tom Harper (Heart of Stones). Meanwhile, Murphy, who is also executive producing, released a statement to Netflix saying:
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
What will the Peaky Blinders movie be about?
The theory that there was going to be a movie in the works has been circulating for several months, as fans speculated about it and the creator eventually confirmed it some time ago. Previously, Knight spoke about the plot itself and revealed several details.
According to the British outlet Birmingham World, Steven plans for the adaptation to be set during World War II. When he spoke about the sixth season, he said: “Peaky, in this incarnation, comes to an end. But we are making a movie that will also continue with the family and stories from World War II“.

Recently, he also spoke with Esquire, where he said that he knows exactly what the movie is about and added: “I know what two stories it will tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know. Which actors will be in the Peaky Blinders movie?
During his interview with Esquire, Steven Knight hinted at who might appear in the new installment and alluded to what happened in the last season of the original series. There he said:
“In the sixth season, we will bring in the new generation, and they will be part of what happens in the movie. I think it’s about finding those actors that you just look at and think, there it is. There is the future“.
This means that besides Cillian Murphy, there could be several stars returning. Stephen Graham had his big debut on the show during the last episodes, as did Amber Anderson and James Frecheville.

Three of the only confirmed cast members, besides the Irish actor, are the Dune star Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan (The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Saltburn) and Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction and Planet of the Apes).
