Dakota Johnson, who brings the main female character to life, gave an interview to MeriStation and talked about how she got involved in the project of the first superhero movie of the year, which belongs to its own world.

There, she confessed: “They sent me the script to read, and I thought it was very clever, realistic, different. But it’s not part of the Spider-Man universe; it’s a new world within Marvel from the perspective of Madame Web”.

How did the character of Madame Web originate?

Madame Web, whose real name is Cassandra Webb, made her first appearance in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #210 in 1980. She was created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.

Cassandra Webb was blind from birth, and despite her visual impairment, she developed extraordinary psychic abilities. These abilities allowed her to have premonitions and perceptions beyond normal human senses. Eventually, she adopted the alias Madame Web and became a key figure in the Spider-Man universe.

Her connection with the arachnid hero was established when Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, saved her from an attack. In gratitude, Madame Web became a mentor and advisor to him, providing guidance in critical moments and helping him understand his destiny as a hero.

She has played a significant role in cosmic events and has been a spiritual guide for several characters within the Marvel universe. Her story and origin have undergone various revisions and reinterpretations over the decades.
