The acclaimed director nominated for two Oscars, Baz Luhrmann (Elvis and Moulin Rouge!), is embarking on another high-profile project and it is none other than the biographical film about a symbol of history: Joan of Arc.

The project will be carried out by Warner Bros. and the casting process is still underway. The title has been described as “the ultimate teenage girl coming-of-age story, set in the Hundred Years’ War”.

Although not many details are known yet, it will be called “Jehanne d’Arc“, following the steps of the young French peasant who believed God had sent her to lead an army, offering a new perspective on her life.

Are there any confirmed actors for the movie?

Deadline reported that, so far, no stars are attached to the project as the casting process is still underway. However, just a few days ago, Jenna Ortega confessed that Joan of Arc is her “dream character”.

This makes her a potentially interesting option to portray the French heroine. Given the multiple speculations, fans have discussed their ideal fancast, with some mentioning figures like Léa Seydoux and Cailee Spaeny.

When could the Joan of Arc biopic be released?

Well, it is still too early to know when the biopic might hit the big screen, but if everything goes well and continues at this pace, we could have updates by the end of the year and a debut sometime in 2026.

This is not the first time the director has developed a biographical drama, as “Elvis” has achieved a worldwide gross of $288 million and was nominated for eight Oscars. Currently, the title is in its creative process.
