January is a month in which many of us are planning (or already implementing) new changes and structures for the upcoming year. And, for those that follow astrological movements closely, the full moon comes with information that can be helpful.

A full moon takes place when it is directly opposite the sun, with the Earth between, causing the moon to reflect the sun’s light. That’s why we can see its complete surface. The full moon usually happens every 29.5 days. The first full moon of the year will take place on January 25, at 12:54 ET.

This full moon, which is also known as the Wolf Moon, will occur in the sign of Leo, which is known for being playful, and energetic. However, Full Moons reflect the body and the emotions, so it’s the perfect time to be receptive.

What does the first Full Moon of 2024 feel like?

According to astrologer Narayana Montúfar, author of Moon Signs: Unlock Your Inner Luminary Power, the Full Moon in Leo will have people “seeking attention and feeling rebellious,” as she wrote for Women’s Magazine.

Montúfar also says that you could feel “big aha moments,” and creativity will be high. Meanwhile, astrologer Megan Lett writes for Pop Sugar that there could be situations regarding your creativity and self-expression “that occurred during last year’s Leo new moon may bring full circle moments now.

However, both astrologers say that this is a time when energy can be tricky. For example, Montúfar says that you must “search for an outlet for your high-energy demeanor without acting too impulsively,” while Lett affirms that this is a time “when emotions and intuition are heightened, and you can see things more clearly.”

What Is the Spiritual Meaning of the Wolf Moon?

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the Wolf Moon is also known as the Cold Moon, Center Moon or Hard Moon in different traditions. All of the names symbolize the harshness of the season, as it appears during the heart of the winter.

And, while the year has already begun, it’s still a time of stillness and profound self-reflection. So, the energy of the full moon will help you get clarity on what you want to start making changes for the year ahead.
