According to Deadline, Disney has set September 2 as the film’s global streaming release date.
‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Brings the Disney+ Series to the Big Screen
Directed by Jon Favreau, the picture continues the story established by “The Mandalorian” and reunites Pedro Pascal with the character of Din Djarin. Favreau co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, with the project developed as a feature film after Lucasfilm shifted its plans for a fourth season of the series.

The story takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, with Djarin and Grogu working alongside the New Republic. Their latest assignment sends them after Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt, in exchange for information that could help them locate a mysterious warlord. The mission eventually puts the pair in conflict with criminal forces connected to the Hutt Cartel.
The movie also expands the cast beyond the central duo. Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta the Hutt, while Sigourney Weaver plays New Republic colonel Ward. Jonny Coyne appears as crime lord Janu Coin, and the film also features returning characters from other corners of the “Star Wars” universe, including Zeb Orrelios and Embo.
The picture arrived in theaters on May 22. Its move to Disney+ comes after its digital release in July and its upcoming physical-media debut on August 25. The streaming premiere on September 2 will make the latest chapter of Djarin and Grogu’s story available globally to Disney+ subscribers.
